Role and Responsibilities
As a Order Picker, you play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service by ensuring orders for online and in-store pickup are prepared accurately and on time. Your main responsibilities include:
Offering courteous and supportive assistance to customers and coworkers.
Selecting, sorting, and readying products according to order requirements.
Inspecting items for any damage and verifying that orders are correct.
Carefully loading merchandise, including large or heavy products, into customer vehicles or delivery trucks.
Restocking shelves to maintain adequate inventory and store organization.
Coordinating with delivery and installation teams to confirm order details.
Operating power equipment safely and in compliance with company policies.
Keeping workspaces clean and adhering to inventory management standards.
Travel Requirements
This position generally does not require travel, though occasional trips for training or meetings may be necessary.
Required Skills and Experience
Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Minimum of six months’ experience using computers for data entry or record keeping.
Comfort working with mobile devices such as tablets or smartphones.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted (heavier lifting may require help).
Physical endurance for extended periods of standing, bending, and lifting.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to secure any required licenses or registrations per local or state laws.
Preferred Qualifications
Six months of retail experience, especially in home improvement or hardware stores.
Previous roles in customer service or order fulfillment.
Experience with loading, unloading, or moving goods.
Certification and experience operating powered equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks (certification required within 30 days for Pro Department roles).
