Role and Responsibilities:

As a Sales Associate in the Outside Lawn & Garden Department at Lowe’s, you’ll be the face of the store for customers shopping for seasonal and outdoor living products. You’ll assist customers with a wide range of items, including plants, patio furniture, grills, soil, mulch, and garden tools. Whether it’s helping someone start their first garden or advising on landscaping materials, your expertise and friendly service make all the difference.

• Customer Engagement:
  • Greet and assist customers in the Lawn & Garden department.
  • Answer product questions and help select the right plants, tools, or materials.
  • Provide basic plant care instructions and landscaping advice.
  • Assist with loading heavy or bulky items as needed.
• Product and Department Knowledge:
  • Stay updated on promotions and seasonal product trends.
  • Maintain knowledge of plant types, fertilizers, pest control, and outdoor equipment.
  • Support special orders, returns, and inventory checks.
• Stocking and Merchandising:
  • Restock shelves and displays, keeping items clean and organized.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the outdoor garden area, including watering and sweeping.
  • Handle live goods with care—water, rotate, and organize plants as needed.
• Safety and Equipment Use:
  • Follow safety procedures for handling chemicals and using outdoor equipment.
  • Operate power equipment like pallet jacks or forklifts (if certified).
• Team Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with teammates and departments for a seamless customer experience.
  • Report customer concerns, product issues, or safety risks to management.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Basic math, reading, and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted (heavier with assistance).
• Willingness to work in outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity.
• Ability to operate or learn handheld scanners, tablets, or POS systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6 months of experience in retail, customer service, or lawn & garden settings.
• Basic knowledge of plants, landscaping, or horticulture.
• Experience in a garden center, greenhouse, or outdoor retail environment.
• Bilingual skills, depending on community needs.

Work Schedule:

• Primarily outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods and perform lifting, bending, and reaching.
