Role and Responsibilities
As a Fulfillment Specialist, your primary focus is to ensure customers receive their orders accurately and promptly. You’ll be involved in the selection, preparation, and loading of merchandise for delivery or in-store pickup, all while delivering top-notch customer service. Key responsibilities include:
Providing courteous, helpful assistance to both customers and coworkers.
Locating and preparing merchandise based on order details and ensuring it’s ready for timely pickup or delivery.
Checking items for damage and accuracy, ensuring all goods are accounted for.
Safely loading merchandise—including bulky or heavy items like appliances—into delivery trucks or customer vehicles.
Restocking shelves to keep merchandise available and organized.
Coordinating with delivery and installation partners to confirm order details.
Operating power equipment and handling merchandise safely, in accordance with company policies.
Keeping the work area clean and maintaining accurate inventory practices.
Travel Requirements
This position generally does not require travel but may involve occasional travel for training or meetings.
Required Skills and Experience
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills (addition/subtraction).
At least 6 months of experience using computers for data entry and record management.
Familiarity with mobile technology, such as smartphones or tablets, for completing retail tasks.
Ability to lift 25 pounds unassisted (with or without additional help for heavier items).
Capable of extended physical activity, including standing, bending, and lifting.
Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Able to obtain necessary licenses or registrations as required by state or local law.
Preferred Qualifications
Six months of retail experience, especially in hardware or home improvement settings.
Background in customer service or order fulfillment.
Experience in loading, unloading, or moving merchandise or materials.
Power equipment experience (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts, lifts), with certification required within 30 days for those assigned to the Pro Department.
