Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you will serve as a key support for customers, offering expert advice and outstanding service throughout their shopping experience.
Greet customers with professionalism and a welcoming attitude
Identify customer needs by asking project-related questions and recommending suitable products
Explain the value, features, and benefits of merchandise clearly
Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently
Follow up with customers as needed and express appreciation for their visit
Keep up to date on current promotions, financing options, and custom order services
Build strong product knowledge within your assigned department
Suggest additional products or solutions that align with customers’ project goals
Maintain a clean and organized department, ensuring items are stocked and labeled correctly
Participate in inventory checks, restocking efforts, and price accuracy
Follow safety standards to provide a secure shopping environment
Partner with team members across departments to address customer needs
Communicate effectively with colleagues and leadership to ensure smooth operations
Required Skills and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
At least 6 months of experience in a retail, sales, or customer service role preferred
Ability to read, write, and perform basic math
Physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting items up to 25 pounds (with help for heavier loads)
Willing to learn and work with point-of-sale systems
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the home improvement industry or relevant product knowledge
Bilingual abilities, depending on local customer needs
A background in customer-facing or retail positions
