Role and Responsibilities

In this customer-facing role, you’ll serve as the first point of contact for shoppers, helping them navigate their projects with knowledgeable advice and a positive attitude.

  • Welcome and assist customers with a professional and friendly demeanor

  • Ask questions to understand project needs and recommend suitable products

  • Share information on product features and benefits, and handle transactions

  • Follow up with customers when necessary and express appreciation for their business

  • Stay updated on store promotions, financing plans, and special order options

  • Maintain expertise in your assigned department’s products and services

  • Suggest additional items that may complement the customer’s project

  • Keep shelves stocked, displays organized, and signage accurate

  • Assist with inventory checks, restocking, and ensuring pricing accuracy

  • Adhere to all safety procedures to maintain a secure shopping environment

  • Coordinate with other departments to fulfill customer requests

  • Communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors to complete daily tasks

Required Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred

  • At least 6 months of experience in retail, customer service, or sales is a plus

  • Ability to read, write, and do basic math

  • Capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 lbs without assistance

  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems or willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in home improvement retail or knowledge of specific products

  • Bilingual abilities, depending on store location and customer base

  • Background in customer-facing or sales roles
