Role and Responsibilities
As a Front End Operations Lead, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the front-end checkout area, ensuring fast, secure, and smooth transactions. You will set a high standard for customer engagement, manage cashier and self-checkout lanes, and support team development through training and coaching.
Supervise self-checkout stations and assist customers when necessary.
Greet customers warmly, answer their questions, and suggest suitable products or services.
Train and mentor Customer Service Associates to maintain accurate and efficient register operations.
Help customers find products, explain their use, and assist in loading merchandise into vehicles.
Resolve customer concerns and team-related issues with professionalism and efficiency.
Accurately handle transactions including purchases, returns, and refunds.
Open additional registers during peak times and direct customer flow to reduce wait times.
Inspect returns, prepare pickup orders, and check loading paperwork for accuracy.
Perform regular safety checks and keep the front-end area tidy and organized.
Watch for theft or suspicious activity and notify store leaders or Asset Protection.
Balance cash drawers and use in-store tools like Zebra devices, paging systems, and paint mixers.
Assist in stocking shelves and recording inventory used for store needs.
Take part in broader store operations and perform other duties as assigned.
Note: Some responsibilities may not be assigned to minors due to legal restrictions.
Required Skills and Experience
1–2 years of experience in a retail cashier role.
Basic understanding of retail technology, such as tablets and smartphones (less than one year needed).
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds with or without accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience upselling or recommending additional services like installation, warranties, or store credit programs.
Previous experience as a Head Cashier or other relevant positions within Lowe’s.
Leadership experience, including staff training, coaching, and performance feedback.
Familiarity with retail loss prevention and theft deterrence practices.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and reach throughout the shift.
Capable of using retail equipment and safely handling merchandise.
