Role and Responsibilities:
As a Retail Sales Associate, you play a crucial role as the first point of contact for customers, guiding them through their home improvement projects with product knowledge and friendly service.
- Greet and engage customers warmly and professionally.
- Ask questions to understand project needs and guide product selection.
- Provide product information, explain features and benefits, and process sales transactions.
- Follow up with customers as needed and thank them for their business.
- Stay informed about promotions, financing options, and special order services.
- Maintain strong knowledge of products and services in assigned department.
- Upsell and suggest additional products that benefit the customer’s project.
- Ensure shelves are stocked, products are properly labeled, and displays are clean and organized.
- Assist with inventory counts, restocking, and maintaining pricing accuracy.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe shopping environment.
- Collaborate with other departments to fulfill customer needs.
- Communicate effectively with team members and managers to complete tasks.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- 6 months of retail experience, including customer service or sales (preferred).
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods; lift up to 25 lbs unassisted (heavier with assistance).
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems or ability to learn.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in home improvement retail or product-specific knowledge.
- Bilingual skills, depending on community served.
- Experience in a customer-facing or sales role.
