Role and Responsibilities

As a Cashier Operations Manager at Lowe’s, you’ll be responsible for managing front-end operations to ensure customers enjoy a seamless, safe, and efficient checkout experience. You’ll lead by example in delivering high-quality service while overseeing cashier stations, including self-checkout, and mentoring associates to drive performance.

• Oversee and support activity at multiple self-checkout stations, providing customer assistance as necessary.

• Welcome and interact with customers, offering product insights and service recommendations.

• Train and guide front-end Customer Service Associates (CSAs) to ensure smooth operations at the registers.

• Help customers find merchandise, explain product features, and assist with loading items.

• Resolve concerns or questions from customers and fellow team members quickly and professionally.

• Accurately process payments, returns, exchanges, and manage the functionality of registers.

• Reduce wait times by opening additional registers and directing customer traffic effectively.

• Inspect returned items, prepare online orders, and verify documentation for loading.

• Promote a safe and clean store environment through routine checks and organization.

• Stay alert to possible theft or fraud and report suspicious behavior to supervisors or Asset Protection.

• Maintain cash drawer accuracy and utilize store equipment such as Zebra devices, intercoms, and paint mixers.

• Restock shelves and record items used for store operations.

• Assist with general store duties and other assigned responsibilities.

Note: Certain duties may be restricted for employees under the age of 18 due to legal limitations.

Required Skills and Experience

• 1–2 years of cashiering experience in a retail setting.

• Basic familiarity with technology used in retail, including mobile devices and tablets (less than one year required).

• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds independently or with accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

• Experience in upselling or recommending services such as credit cards, warranties, or installation packages (1–2 years preferred).

• Previous experience as a Head Cashier or in other store roles at Lowe’s.

• Supervisory experience including employee training and performance evaluation.

• Awareness of theft prevention methods and retail security practices.

Physical Requirements

• Must be comfortable standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting frequently during shifts.

• Capable of handling merchandise and operating standard retail tools and equipment.
