Role and Responsibilities:
As a Head Cashier at Lowe’s, you will supervise and support front-end operations, ensuring a smooth checkout experience for customers while maintaining store safety and efficiency. You will lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service, managing self-checkout and cashier lanes, and coaching associates to meet performance standards.
- Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
- Proactively greet, assist, and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
- Coach and support CSA Front End associates with performance, training, and register processes.
- Assist customers in locating, selecting, demonstrating, and loading merchandise.
- Respond to customer and associate questions and resolve issues effectively.
- Process transactions, returns, refunds, and manage register functionality.
- Open additional registers and assist in line vesting to improve checkout efficiency.
- Inspect returned merchandise, prepare online orders, and verify loading tickets.
- Perform safety checks and enforce store cleanliness and organization standards.
- Detect signs of shoplifting or theft and report incidents to management or Asset Protection.
- Ensure accurate drawer cash amounts, monitor alarms, and operate equipment as required (e.g., Zebra phones, paging system, paint mixers).
- Assist with in-stock tasks and record items used within the store.
- Support daily operations and execute other duties as assigned.
Note: Minors in this role may not perform all tasks listed above.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 1–2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
- Less than 1 year of experience using a computer and common retail technology (smartphones, tablets).
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience in product recommendations and sales (e.g., credit cards, warranties, installations).
- 1–2 years of experience as a Head Cashier or in any department within a Lowe’s store.
- 1–2 years of supervisory experience, including coaching and evaluating performance.
- Experience identifying shoplifting indicators and following loss prevention practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to move product and operate equipment in a retail environment.
