Role and Responsibilities
As a Lead Cashier at Lowe’s, you will manage daily front-end operations to ensure a fast, safe, and efficient checkout experience. You will lead by example in delivering top-tier customer service, overseeing cashier and self-checkout lanes, and guiding team members toward operational excellence.
Oversee multiple self-checkout stations and assist customers as needed.
Welcome customers warmly, assist with questions, and offer product or service recommendations.
Train and mentor Customer Service Associates (CSAs) at the front end, ensuring smooth register use and customer interactions.
Support customers with locating items, demonstrating product features, and loading purchases.
Resolve issues raised by customers or team members in a professional and effective manner.
Process sales, refunds, returns, and manage register functionality efficiently.
Help reduce wait times by opening registers and managing customer lines.
Examine returned merchandise, process online orders, and validate loading documents.
Enforce safety protocols and maintain store cleanliness and order.
Monitor for theft or suspicious behavior and escalate incidents to leadership or Asset Protection.
Verify cash drawer balances, monitor store alarms, and operate store equipment like Zebra devices, paging systems, and paint mixing tools.
Assist with shelf restocking and accurately record inventory usage within the store.
Contribute to daily operational tasks and complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Note: Certain responsibilities may be limited for underage employees.
Required Skills and Experience
1–2 years of retail cashier experience.
Familiarity with basic retail technology, including smartphones and tablets (less than 1 year required).
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of sales or product recommendation experience, including services like warranties, installations, or credit programs.
Previous experience working as a Head Cashier or in other Lowe’s departments.
Supervisory experience, including coaching and performance evaluations.
Awareness of theft prevention and loss control procedures.
Physical Requirements
Regular standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting.
Ability to handle merchandise and operate tools and equipment commonly used in retail environments.
